1. Project Background

Bond Interiors is a premier high-end interior fit-out group known for sophisticated, large-scale projects. I was commissioned to lead the digital redesign of their corporate identity to better reflect the "simplicity and advancement" of their craftsmanship.

2. Design Problem

The primary challenge was a "Quality vs. Speed" paradox. The industry demands high-resolution, full-width imagery to prove technical capability, but heavy media often degrades UX and load times. I needed to move away from the text-heavy layouts typical of competitors and create an image-first experience that felt as premium as the physical spaces Bond Interiors builds.

3. User Research

I identified high-level industry professionals who prioritize visual evidence over marketing copy:

  • Architects & Design Firms: Seeking technical details and "proof of quality."
  • Property Developers: Looking for scale, reliability, and end-to-end production capabilities.
  • Construction Consultants: Assessing manufacturing precision and the "stages of production."

4. Competitive Analysis

I conducted an audit of global AEC firms and found most relied on dated, text-heavy templates. I identified a strategic gap: no one was showcasing the production process with aesthetic rigor. I made this the focal point of the new UX strategy.

5. Information Architecture / Flow

I designed the IA to be "minimalist but deep," prioritizing a Project-First navigation.

  • Primary Flow: Home → Sector (Retail/Hospitality) → Project Gallery → Production Details.
  • Visual Storytelling: I integrated the "Stages of Production" directly onto the homepage to establish technical authority immediately.

6. Design Iteration

I experimented with various grid systems before settling on a customized Masonry Layout. By fine-tuning the masonry logic, I achieved a balance of "organized creativity"—giving the portfolio an editorial feel while maintaining pixel-perfect alignment.

7. Design Testing with Customers

Testing focused on Fluidity and Perception. I implemented custom loading animations to reduce "perceived wait time" and stress-tested image scaling across various resolutions, ensuring sharpness on everything from 13" laptops to 4K monitors.

8. Final Design & Performance

  • Imagery: Advanced compression and "Responsive Images" (srcset) to serve assets efficiently.
  • Interactivity: Gallery images that scale fluidly to the screen's edges without loss of quality.
  • Digital Architecture: A customized WordPress structure prioritizing image optimization and fluid UI transitions.
