Search Engine Optimization includes a lot of work to optimize your website. One of the tasks also includes letting Google know about your website, which is one of the most important steps.
There are many ways to optimize your website for search engines. But once you have done optimizing, by adding relevant keywords, placing meta tags and a lot of things, then you can let google also know about your website.
To do this you need to first create an xml sitemap. You can do this from many websites. I prefer https://www.xml-sitemaps.com.
Just enter your website and you will get an xml file to download. Once you have this file you need to then upload the xml sitemap file to your hosting server in your root folder. Root folder is the main folder of your website which is the public_html folder.
Then insert the following line anywhere in your robots.txt file, specifying the path to your sitemap, making sure that your xml file name is the same name. If you are not sure what a
robots.txt file is, its okay. Simply create a txt file anywhere on your computer, name the file robots.txt and enter the below code.
After that you simply need to go to this link –
Upon visiting the page you will get the below message.
Sitemap Notification Received
Your Sitemap has been successfully added to our list of Sitemaps to crawl. If this is the first time you are notifying Google about this Sitemap, please add it via http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ so you can track its status. Please note that we do not add all submitted URLs to our index, and we cannot make any predictions or guarantees about when or if they will appear.
If you have followed the above steps correctly you will receive the confirmation message. There are so many things that needs to be done for your website to show up on a search index website like Google. However, if you have done even a little bit of optimization and have submitted your website to google by following the above steps, it really helps.
