If you have tried to copy and paste a SoundCloud link directly to WordPress, you may have noticed that the player widget does not display immediately.
This is because the oembed for SoundCloud may not have been added to your WordPress functions file.
What is oembed? oEmbed is an open standard to easily embed content from oEmbed providers into your site.
Now to add a SoundCloud player widget to your WordPress website you would need to first add it in the functions file as shown below.
// Add SoundCloud oEmbed
wp_oembed_add_provider( 'http://soundcloud.com/*', 'http://soundcloud.com/oembed' );
After you have added the code, you can copy and paste the iframe code in WordPress to display the SoundCloud player. If you need to know where to get the iframe embed code, then you can get it by first clicking “share” on the SoundCloud player. After this you will receive two options “share” and “embed”. Click “embed”, then you can copy and paste that code into WordPress.
The following link will show you more options to customize your SoundCloud embeded player.
Let me know if you know of other website audio players that are easy to embed. What other audio players do you use on your website?
